Koi Pond Oasis
And then, still sweaty and full of the energy of the night, I get to swim with giant goldfish in a pond the color of my childhood fantasies.
A restorative rest in the middle of a transformative summer
This summer I'm collecting a lot of new experiences.
I've felt new emotions, experienced new ways of relating, discovered new parts of myself.
Some experiences have been sublime. I've been tied to a St Andrew's Cross under a full moon at Beltane. I gave a sermon to a group of forest fairies and stood under a double rainbow on my wedding anniversary.
Some experiences have been mundane. I've been working a lot. Seeing more clients, learning my craft. Trying (and occasionally succeeding) to stop myself from slipping into self-sabotage. Figuring out the slow, boring work of making a business or a relationship that lasts. Putting in my 10,000 hours.
Things are changing. I can feel that one phase of my life is ending and another chapter is being written. Sometimes the grief of what's ebbing overwhelms me. Sometimes the fear of the unknown sends me into hiding.
But sometimes I get to spend time with loving people in a secret backyard resort and sing songs as we drive to a dance party. I get to dance and flirt and seek away to make out with someone delicious in a quiet hallway. And then, still sweaty and full of the energy of the night, I get to swim with giant goldfish in a pond the color of my childhood fantasies.
It was a moment that took me out of my life enough to see it properly.
