On September 7th I gave my first sermon in sex church. Otherwise known as Sin & Tonic: Sexuality, Spirituality, and Somatic Healing. The workshop ended with a message and blessing from my Goddess that I'm sharing with you all today. The transcript is below.
I want you all to know that the goddess is here with you now. She is so happy...I am so happy that you are here with me today.
I see how far you have had to go to be here today. I see how much you have hurt. You fought for yourself to be here. You have fought for your right to pleasure, to connection, to be authentically seen as who you are. I am so fucking proud of all of you for facing that fear.
There was something that you may have heard about sex you were growing up. Sex is a gift. And they probably meant that it was a gift for somebody else, not for you. I'm here to tell you that it is a gift, and it is a gift for you. It's a gift for you to do with what you will for your highest and best good.
That means saying yes when your body is a yes, and your soul is a yes, and your mind is a yes. Say yes. And it also means saying no.
The opposite of purity culture is not hookup culture. You do not.. gain or lose anything when you have sex or do anything with your body. No matter the experiences you're having, it cannot take away from who you are. It cannot take away my love for you.
You can treat it as sacred and as special and as precious as you want. You don't have to prove anything.
Your sexuality is a gift for you to explore yourself in your own mind.
There's no fantasy, no imagery. Nothing you can want in your own body, in your own mind. Nothing can hurt you there, and you can't hurt anybody else there either. The darkness and light you find within yourself and within your sexuality, is also present in this world.
Sometimes we have to want strange things because we live in a strange world. We live in a broken imperfect, very, very flawed and fucked up world. And if you're gonna love this world, you're gonna love some fucked up things.
You're gonna love some beautiful things, some precious things. And sex is all of that. It is the light and the romance and the connection and the touch. It's your soul reaching out. Forgetting where you end and other people begin, you can merge and be together in love.
And it is strange and dark and scary things. Sometimes...we feel so responsible for keeping everybody safe. We feel so responsible for keeping everybody okay. But we want to know what it feels like if you're not okay sometimes. You want to know it's okay to be not okay? It can even be fun. Do all of these, explore all of these within yourself and with whoever you choose.
So as you leave here today, take that knowledge with you. Take my love with you. Remember, if you think of me in the holy act of masturbation, I will be with you. I'll be present. I'll be there celebrating at your lust and your arousal. I'll be there feeding on your excitement. I see your desire for connection, you won't be alone in it. I will be there you if you wish me to be.
